What are some thoughtful things/ideas I can do for an elderly woman coming home from a nursing home?

I started being a caregiver/companion to an elderly couple. Although they are both old, they look young and have no dementia. The female elderly was in a senior home for about 10 days to try it out. She's coming back home next week. Although I am not too close to the couple and their family yet, I wanted to do something special. I will be at home with the male elderly while the sons go pick up the female elderly and bring her home. I was thinking of decorating the house with yellow streamers to make it bright and blow yellow balloons just to welcome her back home. I am also very quiet, but I am compionate. What else can I do to get closer to them? What should I get her for mother's day?
