HELP!!!!Parents!!!!!!!!?

So I just told my parents that I wanted and am going to leave home at 18 (currently 17) and they got all upset and now I feel bad.Is this normal and should I still leave?My relationship with my dad is terrible is terrible and every time I think of leaving I am just overjoyed.will they get over it??
