Visiting Ireland on 2009, but..?

I would like to have a really close visit and experience the local customs, like go have a beer in a little bar, meet people from the neighborhood, play soccer and of course make new friends and offer back a place to stay in mexico and do the same thing when visiting me, is there anyway to rent a room in a nice but rustic room in the irish country?
