Good Gatti question. Could have gatti been great if mcgirt trained him earlier in his career?

so I'm watching the third gatti-ward fight and I'm really impressed in how mcgirt turned him from a brawler to a boxer. Very improved fighting skills comparing him to the Ivan Robinson fight. Hes fast and powerful, had swift upper body movement, good footwork, jab, timing and hits but doesn't get hit (well in the opening rounds). Hes just a complete boxer. But my question What if gatti was trained by mcgirt much earlier in his career? Could he have been great? Could he have been more experienced and put up a better fight with De la Hoya and mayweather or at least put up a really good fight with them?
